Giving back

Sometimes, it’s good to have some time out from the day to day running of a business to do something totally outside your normal environment (or comfort factor!)

In 2018, I lost my wife to cancer and afterwards I felt that I wanted to help to improve the chances of future generations to recover from this dreadful disease which we know effects many families as well as my own.

Last year, I decided to take ½ day from my working week and also from my weekends, to work each week for a cancer charity where I could in my own small way, help make a difference.

I now enjoy helping out at my local Cancer Support Charity Shop, performing a multitude of new tasks that I have since learnt, such as working on a till or merchandising products for sale. All great fun but for such a good cause.

In business, do we 'Maximise or Optimise' Profits to create our Wealth❓

After discussing this question with a colleague recently we came to this conclusion;

Plenty of business leaders concentrate on growing profits with no real target, hereby maximising their resources to their perceived limits.

Bur sometimes, we have to look at our own personal balance sheet (to use an accounting term!) first, to establish as to what wealth we really need to finance our lifestyles we lead or want to lead.

By optimising our businesses to achieve only our personal goals, we target only the profits we need, which is much more achievable and has a greater chance of actually happening.
