In the biggest shift to income tax filing in many years, Making tax digital (MTD) for income tax is now ready for registration on HMRC’s gov.uk website.
Do you work for yourself or receive income from property over £50,000 per tax year?
You are now able to sign up your Self-employment and/or property business for MTD for income tax from the 2026/27 tax year, that's from 6th April 2026.
MTD for income tax is compulsory from April 2026 if you have relevant income of over £50,000.
If this applies to you, you will now have to submit quarterly updates showing your income and expenses through your accounting software.
